Joe Metts 08-25-2013 05:40 PM

Idol is a bad word to use tho.

I just thought they was the nicest and kinda combined their styles. Funny and grimey.

oats 08-25-2013 05:46 PM

I always looked to hush, gow, Orc, arch and king for battling.

For oms it was black and cry, later on guys like vulgar, fice, pent and 3pa. Whys and dullhaha for sheer rhyming/flex stuff.

Hush - probably the funniest textee I've read. I still remember reading his verse against Beyond, those eye liners had me rolling. lol @ "ya eyesite like ya phone book - one contact". Dude is witty and funny af.

Alien - Brutal delivery. I always imagined Alien with the voice of authority (or some shit). Dude was sick, verses were always heavy.

Beyond - most technically complex, but has bars that are flawless when he drops 100%.

All time though, I'd say olorun from HF. His creativity was bar none. Reading his verse just makes you wonder where the fuck he gets his ideas from.

Certain 08-25-2013 09:17 PM

Cimmerian amazed me back in the day.

I don't idolize any battlers. But writing wise, probably @dull boy and @BWHAHA. But a crush or idolization wouldn't be ideal phrasing.
@Neighbor/ Manhattan ( @Beretta ) are also good writers; and yes what dull said they watch too much Miami Vice/Scarface/WWE Pay-Per-Views.
@Zombie 's pretty good, too.

I know certain names are just credited to being thrown out there just cause of their name sake, but some of @zygote 's drops are very intriguing, but just like that other drops are just what I expect, not to say they were bad, though.

Anything from here on out is just listed as good writers, not particularly I look up to, or try to emulate. There's really 1-2 people I try to learn from because they excel (or have excelled) in places I do not (particularly well as they do) but then again everybody says I'm them, so there's that.

That whole psychological deep withered space babble that gets elected in OM's isn't fulfilling or 'dope' in my opinion. It's good writing but, I feel everythings the same, the same monotone bearing that just won't get out of it's comfort zone.

I thought that when I said that, but I stopped paying attention after a while. Battling is largely political. Rep+style divided by manipulation X skill = wins. People win battles based off persona. Not to knock battling, but wins and losses don't mean much, imo. Sometimes I lost on purpose just because I wanted to try a new style, when I knew ol' faithful would have gotten me the W.

Sounds cocky. So you weren't just trying to break out of a zone to better yourself, it was just to 'try' a new style? Gay.

KwaL!ty 08-26-2013 10:49 AM

Damn no fucking way @oats you are the same one from PlanetRap.net

<---use to run with Aplha Mega, Bar Buryin, Crewsader, Kop!ed Stylez, Jimmy Neutron, Hades..

i always wanted to ask if you where the same head.

dead man 08-26-2013 11:12 AM

Dominate was also really impressive to me for a long time and still remains pretty much the only battler besides glock I get excited to read a verse from. I could see myself at one point trying to emulate his style, especially back on IHH when he was dominating. Obv no pun intended but yea.

Better yourself? Sounds like caring. I don't care. That's why I'm replying to you.
