not trying to take anything away from Em because SSLP/MMLP/Eminem Show cemented his spot in hip hop history. But he's behind the curve on all these 'punchlines' he thinks he's spitting now. It's the flow on Revival that makes it seem wack. The lyrics are there, mostly. I think it was Chase Moore who did a review of it and described perfectly what happened.

Em used to be right on time with the beat, perfectly in sync. Now he's ahead of the beat when he spits so you miss all the clever shit he has (aside from the played stuff)

I actually liatened to relapse allmost all the way through earlier. He killed the beat in every joi t. I mean he just wasnt convincing and them fucking accents man. Years pruor apitting the same shit.. He would have sounded more convinving and the tracks would have had wayy more shock value. He just dont sound like the em who just dont give a fuck anymore.

He lost that edge man. He lost the pure aggression in his tone. The passion in his tone that would suck you into what he was saying time after time. His syllable counts were perfectly aligned back then...now he just stuffs so many syllables in each bar that it sacrifices parts of his flow...it just sounds bad and off beat. He played with double time a lot pre/post MMLP2 era and it was garbage. Robotic, nerdy, squeaky voice...idk...I couldn’t take him serious after MMLP2. That shit was my last straw.

Dude was my hero when I was a kid. Now I can’t sven stomach listening to 20 seconds of a Eminem song. Not gonna lie tho...I guess Bad Meets Evil was pretty dope. But anything after Relapse is a joke to me. His first 3 albums make him a hip hop legend alone tho. He hit on those albums back to back to back.

Eminem had only one decent album in 16 years (Recovery). And that's really only because it had good production and a cool rock vibe. He still had corny and amateurish punchlines.

It's fuckin sad to see someone who I once regarded as the best rapper alive become sooooo trash.

After being on life support after Encore and Relapse, Em died the day he uttered that window pane line. He was buried when "Bruce Lee of loosely abused inc" was allowed to be put on record.
