You're 27 and yelling at kids to get off your lawn.

i'm talking about hip hop though thats the whole point. lol. if you like the weirdo shit thats cool. go ahead and branch out into blended genre's

but if you know of any dope hip hop go ahead and post it in here. thats the whole point i'm trying to familiarize myself because everytime i search shit is BLEAK. out of everyone you named i fuck with joey badass. Q has a couple bangers but alot of garbage so i don't even look out for him. same with rocky.

Thug mixtape got some fire tho

Witty 09-06-2016 07:11 PM

I agree with @Certain tbh...2008ish right up until just a couple of years ago was the worst state I've personally seen hip hop in. It has got a lot better in the last couple of years imo.

2015 was the best year for hip hop in a looooong time, what we have this year is not quite as good...but it was always going to struggle to replicate a year with so many dope albums, there's a lot of good dudes out there tho... underground and mainstream.

uh-oh 09-06-2016 07:25 PM

i dunno, in 08 i was actively finding stuff i liked. i became disillusioned somewhere around 2012 and its only gotten worse since

i can't get into 99 percent of new artists its just trash to me, and it can't just be me getting older because i fuck with joey badass

but listen to joey badass and then listen to the rest and it becomes apparent why. he makes east coast boom bap HIP HOP. he doesn't do gay shit with his voice. he just goes in.

its too hard to find that anymore. i've been fucking with conway and westside gunn because they are HIP HOP. but even they are just OK. nobodies DOPE anymore, and when i do find some hip hop shit half the time there ain't even drums. not a fan.

Ghost1 09-06-2016 07:38 PM

I used to like reading uh oh posts

An I mean it can't be that I'm just getting older...I fuck w some of aeros posts

Also been getting really into big baby and pancake bruh posts

But present day uh oh posts just don't really do it for me....u just can't find quality uh oh posts these days. I can't fuck with it.

Didn't listen to a single track in this thread. I was gonna say the only one I'm not fucking with in this thread was Jada. And that's true lyrically... but I make my own beats.

I'm better than anyone in this thread and I'm sitting here on my couch stressing about some whore of a baby's mother and should be sleeping for this nice ass job I got in the morning but I'm not. I was pissed off about her bullshit, now I'm pissed off again that I've just been sitting on this heat not making any money.

Fuck this shit.

Finnydot 09-07-2016 02:22 AM

Things got pretty grim in, say, 2008.

I think 08-09 was around the time we started to see the shift in what hip hop was. The easiest way I can put it into perspective is to look at the XXL freshmen from those years.

2007 you had: Saigon, Plies, Rich Boy, Gorilla Zoe, Joell Ortiz, Lupe Fiasco, Lil Boosie, Crooked I, Papoose & Young Dro.
-They didn't do one in 2008-
2009 you had: Wale, B.o.B., Charles Hamilton, Asher Roth, Cory Gunz, Blu, Mickey Factz, Ace Hood, Curren$y & Kid Cudi.

In 2007, you have Lupe Fiasco as the obvious outlier. The nerd in a group of thugs.
By 2009, you have Ace Hood as the obvious outlier. The thug in a group of nerds.

But to speak to the original point of this thread, I've recently keep hearing about this rapper named Young M.A. and her song "Ooouuu." I finally got around to checking it out last night... This is one of the biggest songs out right now, with over 14 MILLION views on youtube...

Pretty sure uh-oh is more likely to enjoy Lil Uzi Vert than any woman rapper.

Witty 09-07-2016 05:01 PM

Which is fair enough because it's very hard to find a good female rapper imo.

Joey is tight. but tbh he do do some funky shit with his voice at times...& i aint mad at it.

Anyway, a couple new-ISH shits you might fuck with. its mixed batch. some on some gansta shit, some meaningful, some soulful etc....all round its good music

Oddisee - Alwasta Ep
Oddisee - The Good Fight ...producer first, rapper second. you couldnt tell though.

Lib Bibby - Free Crack 1 & 2 ...just some gangsta shit

Cannibal Ox - Blade Of The Ronin ....its aint no cold vein. but the tapes solid.

Mick Jenkins - The Waters ...might catch you. might not.

Luci Ecks - Body High ...decent chill smoked out tape

Nipsey Hussle - Slauson Boy 2 ...aint heard it yet tbh. but nipsey tends to do his thing consistently.

Saba Comfort Zone ...all round solid album. not that boom bap, but the shit got energy.

Lupe Fiasco - Tetsuo & Youth ....guessing you dont fuck lupe tbh. & i love that boom bap shit as much as the next nigga...but dont act like other niggas aint rappin.

Freddie Gibbs - Shadow of a Doubt ...its gibbs nigga. every things gibbs dropped is worth checkin tbh.

Scarface - Deeply Rooted ....if you aint heard the shit already...fuck knows

anyway. i kinda agree with the sentiment tbh. havent heard much noteworthy this year...but if, as you say, the "underground" has never been better, dont that balance the shit out??

sidenote. pimpire stikes back was cool. but if you talkin marciano niggas best to mention marcberg. classic.

And as far as Future, all I can ask is you give these two tracks a chance:

This is going to sound bold, and feel free to call me on it, but I think Deeply Rooted might be Scarface's most consistent album. Every other Scarface albums has a few skippable songs.

Ghost1 09-07-2016 06:08 PM

The fix was the correct answer.

Deeply rooted is cool tho.

PancakeBrah 09-07-2016 06:49 PM

Young Thug is ridiculously dope.

Negged Certain for not including this in his Future list.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y3hs-vv6Cf0

Sometimes I just ride around Fargo writing man poems with this blaring out the Impala (2009) just intimidating people. White neighborhoods.

That and "Stick Talk" are my favorite songs on DS2. Didn't include it because it sounds like a Future song. If you think you don't like Future, you probably won't like "I Serve the Base," but maybe you might like "Blood on the Money."
