Maybe bellator can carve it's niche w/ these type of fights More than likely not but lol put Bob sapp vs a sumo wrestler or something. I miss those circus fights kinda |
shamrock stays lossing lol smh.

It seems as though Zuffa's stranglehold (and subsequent elimination of several of its own subsidiaries in favor of UFC) has reduced Bellator to a frivolity. I'm sure @quaker oats can better explain it.

the future of Bellator will be interesting. on the one hand, they're willing to put freak fights like this together, and people do actually watch. on the other hand, they sign guys like Benson Henderson, legitimate talents that butt heads with the UFC/Reebok for various reasons. I'd like to see Bellator, WSOF, One FC etc remain viable; free agency gives elite fighters more leverage to negotiate their contracts with the UFC, and those organizations let people continue to make a living once they've declined.
I don't like shit like last night, but I do generally like Scott Coker's style of matchmaking. Unless the UFC really fuck up somewhere, Bellator will be there to pick up the UFC's scraps and put on as many fun ones they can think of. that being said, I paid more attention to Blackout 6 than I did Bellator last night, which is saying something. |
Pride had a ginormous talent pool of fighters on steroids
Bellator has dade counties finest and Henderson lol |
Bellator is a joke and should never be compared to pride. Pride was better than the ufc for a loooong time.
Wsof is a feeder league for the ufc so they'll never acquire any real stars |
I wouldn't sleep on Bellator. If the UFC/Reebok situation continues to be shitty, don't be surprised to see more elite fighters jump ship (Overeem and Sterling were seriously considering offers). They also have plenty of legitimate talent already on their roster not associated with the UFC (McGeary at LHW, Brooks at LW, Galvao at BW). It's no Pride, but it could very well become the second Strikeforce - Scott Coker's first organization.
