Yeah, I know. I love plenty of his stuff from the 2000s. I thought he did a good job with Papoose last year. This beat is good:

Also, that makes sense regarding Large Professor's influence. But let's not pretend like he invented DJ Premier. This isn't some RZA/Mathematics relationship.

Dilla , stoupe..9th wonder

Premo obv choice but yea

THE PUZZLEMASTER 05-17-2014 03:24 PM

Malachi 05-17-2014 03:28 PM

be hearin alot of people give Dilla the title tho

but word ion knoww bout best but my fav gotta be Kanye tbh

uh-oh 05-17-2014 03:31 PM

kanye is dope for sure

as is dilla, but dilla gets alot of love cuz he's dead. you'd be hardpressed to find a dilla fan before he died

but now watch a bunch of people act like slum village was relevant and the 6 beats he did for common changed there live lmao

but word dilla was dope.

THE PUZZLEMASTER 05-17-2014 03:38 PM

Dilla did maaaad work tho, idgaf if a hipster noob wants to act like fila is a founding father, it won't change my opinion of him, besides, really, there is no "best" producer. Too subjective. Example, is dre a dope producer? No doubt. A dope beatmaker? Prolly just better than average imo...

Ghost1 05-17-2014 03:41 PM

Dilla shit is too sloppy for me

His g9od shit is great

But sometimes im like....wtf r u doin weirdo?

Never really liked to lqbel sum1 the goat of anythin tho....agree w naq on that

Specially on here.....it starts w whos the goat....every1 is right....an then it breaks down into....lets just name a bunch of people who r good

uh-oh 05-17-2014 03:45 PM

THE PUZZLEMASTER 05-17-2014 03:55 PM

Madlib and lord quas are like the same dude, get it right yo. And there's a taste for every tongue. I'm the goat.

All of this is accurate.

Nobody loved JayDee. Everybody loves Dilla, like he somehow got great at the exact moment he died.

THE PUZZLEMASTER 05-17-2014 06:13 PM

I still can't name one slum village song. So what? If you ain't down from the jump you can't recognize later? I kept hearing about this dilla guy so I have him a shot. Didn't know he was shit down till after I heard some instrumentals. Wtf/e. Your early adopter status can't stop me from appreciating dope shit. RIP

trap 05-17-2014 06:29 PM

New Primo is just as good as the 90's shit.

The beat he gave Vinnie Paz for The Oracle is killer.

Still, I'd say Pete Rock. Personal preference. Primo is super close though.
