I have lost 4 times.

*Looks at record*

Witty 04-08-2014 03:53 PM

I can't complain tho, the other 15 were my own fault.

I was just thinking about that actually, might not make much of a difference. I will not be able to show - I'll be in brazil from June 2 - 20.

I won't be running a Summer topical tourney lol

If I'm still on this site this summer I'm going to have really reevaluate my life

Witty 04-08-2014 05:08 PM

pancake don't u dare speak like that.

Witty 04-08-2014 05:10 PM

ur scaring me :(

oats 04-08-2014 05:11 PM

Lol everyone feels the same way about their losses, pointless conversation. End of the day, if you're happy with the verse you wrote, you've won.

Witty 04-08-2014 05:11 PM

Will you host a tournament if I promise to win it?

I'm almost never happy with my verses. I just console myself with, "Well, I did my best with the time and inspiration I allowed myself... meh..." then I continue to live the rest of my life.

oats 04-08-2014 05:24 PM

Agreed @Vividlyvague I think there's a degree of that in everything we write, hard to feel fully satisfied with something. What can ya do.

Certain 04-08-2014 05:25 PM

I've had gripes about specific votes in a few of my losses. But I'm sure my opponents have felt similarly at times. It happens.

Witty 04-08-2014 05:31 PM

i cant imagine ever being completely satisfied with something i have written.

I think i would just quit.

Certain 04-08-2014 05:40 PM

The similar number of votes on each side (with 16 actually winning) have prioritized keeping the league at 16 weeks because it was originally scheduled to go 16 weeks. I only was willing to change from the plan if a vast majority wanted 12, but the opposite appears true.

Here's a timetable of what that means, based on when verses would be due:

Week 7: April 11
Week 8: April 18
Week 9: April 25
Week 10: May 2
Week 11: May 9
Week 12: May 16
Week 13: May 23
Week 14: May 30
Week 15: June 6
Week 16: June 13

The playoffs would then start June 16, and like last season, I'll give a little extra time on verses for the playoffs. That actually could work for you, @oats, if you're willing to get right back on the horse upon returning. You also might be in line for a bye if you keep this rate up.

Witty 04-08-2014 05:44 PM

wtf how r u so organised.

props tho.

oats 04-08-2014 05:49 PM

@Certain id try my best to get it in right when I get back. I could make it work.

oats 04-08-2014 05:52 PM

And for the record, like pretty much everyone here, feel like I've only really been beaten three times, one of which I posted up a joke verse about doin booty because I thought my opponent would no show. But alas, that's not how the cookie crumbled. Clearly, I've defeated people who thought they got robbed so it's all a wash.

Mike Wrecka 04-08-2014 05:57 PM

imagine we worked on our verses for as long as some poets work on their poetry

or authors work on their stories

they could take a year or more to work on a short story

Witty 04-08-2014 05:59 PM

im gonna work on an OM for a year.

I think I'll be satisfied once I can transfer my exact thoughts to paper. I tend to get closer to that in audio than text most times.

My ADD will not allow me that opportunity. That's why I almost never edit after dropping. Once I write it I immediately lose interest in it. It's such a fucking curse.
