i prefer the a person who understands a piece of information over leaving a person to assume information

Certain 01-21-2014 11:27 AM

@Diode, do you actually think you know more about grammar than me?

PancakeBrah 01-21-2014 11:28 AM

You can use the oxford or not use it. It's personal preference unless you're writing under a specific guideline.

Certain pls

Certain 01-21-2014 11:31 AM

Pancake, do you actually think you know more about grammar than me?

I understand the merits of both formats. If you're writing a magazine, you should conform to journalistic style.

I know a lot about grammar. This is a silly pissing contest to start as most of it is subjective outside of strict standards used for publication.

I am not a novice to those standards as I have been published both in print and online.

Let's not.

PancakeBrah 01-21-2014 11:38 AM

You don't dispute what I said, correct? Good. I didn't say I know grammar better than you. Doesn't bother me.

I'm not sure if you're trolling with the Text Magazine=Journalistic thing. If you're not, this is not a published magazine. It's a magazine in name only, just because that's what they've always been called. And it's for text. Such formalities are not applicable here, brah. I've written magazines for open mic, tag tourney, and this. Never have I used journalistic guidelines, rules, or style formats. I think doing that would be unnecessary, boring, and overkill. I like apples, oranges, and bananas but not pears, cantaloupes, or kiwis.

Witty 01-21-2014 11:41 AM

Grammar is ghey.

My writing and editing is published almost every day in print and online. Grammar is what I do for a living. And you actually think you know more about it than me.

And Pancake, I was joking inasmuch as Diode's adorable cartoons were a joke. Obviously I don't care about the grammar used here.

PancakeBrah 01-21-2014 12:05 PM

I thought so. It's tough to tell with you Certain. You're very srs.

Continue the comma fight w/ Diode.

Yes. You can't admit to knowing less about anything than anyone, so it's a waste of my time. But today's my day off.

NYCSPITZ 01-21-2014 12:17 PM

Witty 01-21-2014 12:20 PM
