Yes, the BCS ranking system is a very complex system which uses not only what uh-oh just mentioned, but also takes into account all the other computer rankings out there like the AP, USA Today and ESPN (I think there is like 8-10 rankings out there maybe even more). So it's very, very complex.
In the most simplest of terms, the strength of schedule plays a major factor. And then how you play against the lower, unranked teams as well. Which is why Ohio State may need to win their title game convincingly and hope for at least an Auburn/Florida State loss, because if FSU finishes unbeaten and Auburn takes the SEC title, it's very likely they will put Auburn in the title game with the one-loss and prominent schedule strength they had this year. Mind you, NOBODY predicted Auburn to even be ranked or win the SEC coming off that dreadful year last year. So Ohio State needs to keep their fingers crossed. |
