in the command prompt type "ping websitename.com"

lol for sure

there was a time it seemed like a single channel on EFnet could pick a target and bring it down within minutes...

now it's kinda like, if you're gonna do anything, you might as well go big or not do it at all

Yeah well im no cumputer hacker by any means but ive been told if you want to take down anything big using loic you need alot of people attacking at the same time.

You know any other good ways of putting websites down temporarily like LOIC?
I also know how to grab peoples ip addresses on gaming servers and DOS them.

no doubt

if it's just temporary - it's just about getting at the bandwidth... throwing so much information at a server/farm/etc. that it has nothing to do but choke. which is what LOIC would do... it's sending packets of info and the site is responding to the calls --- and eventually it'll timeout when there is too much to handle

i dont see the reason for doing it to a website anymore, risk vs. reward... even using proxies and shit, it's not worth it imo... hosting environments have gotten better with clusting servers and balance loading and shit.

i can see why doing it to a gamer makes sense (for the dick gamers out there lol) - and they aren't going to try to trace route/etc.... so yea DOS attacks will never go away i suppose lol

Masaii 11-22-2013 04:49 PM

That whole risk vs reward is crap imo

I mean obv if doing it to a large corperation, but if i wanted to take down a forum or a small website, like theyre gonna call the cops and say wahhh someone dosed my server and then proceed to track down the culprit who lives half way around the world in the alaskern wilderness and serve him with a warrant to appear in court...cmon now

you're assuming my issue was with the risk part of the equation bro lol

i think the reward of temporarily bringing down a website is ehh

if someone did it to a site i ran i wouldnt call the cops either lol... i wouldn't ignore it though, i'd just make a pet project out of it at my leisure.

Masaii 11-22-2013 05:05 PM

I'm just jealous because I don't understand any of this.

It makes me feel dumb so instead of learning I call everyone who has knowledge of this nerds because it allows me to continue to live in denial of my own stupidity.

Nerds.

Masaii 11-22-2013 06:44 PM
