You mean as a league?

It isn’t the right time for that yet, IMO.

Let’s get this tournament completed successfully, then look to begin another directly after. There needs to be some consistency established first. Consistently completed tournaments ran to a high standard, slowly growing in number. Then once we have a foundation to build from, we can look towards a league.

I'm up for the next one

It’s fine, no drama. Both battles are open for votes.

Etherwave 07-20-2024 10:44 AM

Who gonna be the leader and pop it off. I wanna vote but I'm feeling shy.

Just an idea that I’ll throw out there. Maybe you can get it off the ground at some point. Food for thought. A Micro Topical Tournament. 8 lines maximum. Might get a good amount of people to jump in because of the smaller time commitment. But also it would be quite challenging for the writers. Something different.

sral 07-20-2024 05:15 PM

We’ve done a short verse tournament here before, not 8 lines (it may have been 10) but it’s certainly been done.

If it was so few lines I would ideally want more competitors (16?)

Wasn't there a haiku tournament as well at one point? Or was that over on Art of Writing or whatevs?

sral 07-23-2024 02:12 AM

Possibly. I don’t recall it. There was a Lime Green Poetry League for a while by Vulgar that definitely had haikus one week

Master Rock 07-24-2024 11:11 AM

Can’t wait for the championship. It’s exactly what I thought it would be for my initial prediction. Ether vs Sym. It’s gonna be dope. Ether do not give him a chance he because he will not let his guard down. Either way it’s going to be fire.

sral 07-24-2024 11:14 AM

@symetrik @Etherwave FINALS MATCH IT UP!!!

@Mike Wrecka @Objective if you’ve been enjoying writing and would like a matchup to decide who finished in third place, let me know and I’ve got you guys

I tried to leave Ether vs Obj open a couple days longer to see if we could get a winner by a two vote margin but unfortunately not so in the best interests of the tourney I’ve had to make a call and continue with it at 3-2 in Ethers favour

symetrik 07-24-2024 12:25 PM

glad to see ya in the finals Ether - well deserved, bring the heat!

Etherwave 07-24-2024 12:50 PM

You as well, sir! May the odds be ever in your favor. Lol.

Mike is on RN

Objective 07-25-2024 02:43 PM

Mike said he was gonna pass on that @sral

Also, @Scar, there was no underlying message to the story I wrote this time around. I wrote that story for the sake of it just being a story altho I did start 1-2 with concepts of that nature in mind. The vast majority of my topicals got an underlying message, symbolism, metaphors and/or personifying aspects of mental health but figured while writing that not all stories needs it.

Sometimes it can be nice with just a story and just that. However, in order for it to hit well it needs to be done well enough/to perfection which my piece needed quite a bit of polishing to achieve to say the least. At least vs the level of writer I was up against

thats great and i always appreciate underlying message metaphors and stuff like that but i just didn't think it was communicated that well in this particular piece. I can pick on nuances, i can assure u.
