Yes, it has to be traveling amazingly fast. Time slows for the observer the closer one approaches light speed. So if one was traveling outside of the earth at light speed or close to it, then time would pass slower to them than the peeps on earth and in essence you could travel to the future this way theoretically.

Amen 05-19-2018 12:50 PM

So what if he went to the future and has returned back from the future?

Or once you travel there you are stuck there and there is no turning back?

Enlighten me.

uh-oh 05-19-2018 12:58 PM

there is no going back. you could only theoretically keep going forward

des put what i was remembering out much more eloquently

Geno 05-19-2018 01:50 PM

Makes more sense that way. I think i remember seeing or reading something along these lines.

Ok, so hypothetically speaking - If I were to go forward in time, would I meet the older version of myself?

Muh fuckas in here acting like they don't know my boy NDT!

Probably the smartest space guy alive anymore.

zelti 05-19-2018 02:15 PM

These nuggas fuckin DUMB!!!!

Finnydot 05-19-2018 02:18 PM

Y'all wanna have a real discussion, let's bring up Quantum mechanics and basically shit on everything we know about physics.

Amen 05-19-2018 02:24 PM

Please elaborate.

Destroyer 05-19-2018 02:42 PM

You can travel to a distant future theoretically but as yourself in like a ship or something
You’re currently traveling into the future right now
You still would be in this scenario just at a much faster rate than everybody else
There’s not two of you, your observed rate of time changes while you travel at closer to light speeds, so you’d land on earth and like hundreds of years would have passed there but to you it would only be like two years or whatever

uh-oh 05-19-2018 02:51 PM

yea

i don't know the exact equation like how many earth hours/days pass in comparison to hours/days you experience while travelling near the speed of light. but lets just say its 1 year of earth time for each "day"/24 hours of time you experience

if you flew at near light speed for 5 straight days, you personally would be experiencing only 5 days, but when you landed on earth, 5 years would have passed. you would only be 5 days older, but everyone you knew on earth who wasn't with you, aged 5 years.

Amen 05-19-2018 03:43 PM

I got that, I wanted Finny to elaborate on "Quantum mechanics".
