i'm a mixture of the both of you
99 percent of games i play on easy to breeze through it and enjoy playing it. if i die a bunch im just wasting time like wtf
i want to see the world and story the games creators meant to see, while not seeing the mechanics they meant for me to see
i cheat like a motherfuckerrrrrrrrrrrrr
but there are games where cheating and easy mode ruin it.
the long dark for instance. i played it on easy at first, but there was no threat of dying. and since the game is just open exploration basically and survival (the story mode is weak/trash) easy mode makes it wack. the wildlife won't even attack you. wolves and bears run away wtf. but even at normal difficulty (what developers actually make the game and balance it for) its a brutal slog of survival. im pretty sure i walked around in circles a stones throw from shelter because i was caught in a blizzard and died. i ran out of beef jerky and tomato soup and managed to find a fresh deer kill a wolf was on, i threw a rock in desperation and the wolf ran off. i got greedy and tried to harvest too much of the deer, i was giving off a huge stench of dead deer, and wolves tracked me down and killed me before i got back to the shelter. etc etc. the difficulty actually makes that game.
same with total war games, if you play them on easy it removes 99 percent of the tactics and strategy that make them fun
but your average RPG/adventure/shooter whatever. i'll throw it on easy. i dont give a fuckkkk.
but word i also don't like online games at all, outside of co-op, and even co-op i gotta know who im gaming with otherwise its just like nah
