You're not wrong. The way I look upon it tho is that the money would probably go to bullshit anyways. I might lose 20$ every 1000$ or so for paying more in taxes (at least in Norway they take a small percentage if you've paid too much) but rather that than getting exactly 0 or having to owe 200$ back because I've worked a lot of overtime and won't get any returns. I don't notice the difference between 50$ extra a month anyways, I do notice the sudden 500$ on my account that I usually put into my vacation fund or whatever to have extra to throw around when I go somewhere during the summer vacation.
