@uh-oh, listen to this new Adrian Younge soul album. A lot of stuff like this:

uh-oh 01-25-2016 06:19 PM

Word im gonna check it. I didnt know he made a new one. Im just weird about sampling him because literally probably 200thousand other people are

Hes stupid dope tho. Like everything hes done

Certain 01-25-2016 06:28 PM

This one is better than his first Something About April from 2011. And yeah, you can definitely hear potential samples all over the place. He is our Teenie Hodges, and we need more out of him like this.

uh-oh 01-25-2016 07:33 PM

He is definitely dope. His arrangements can be chaotic but it all vibes

I really dont know if anyone else does what he does anymore from a pure producong standpoint. There are bands who make dope classic music, with the old school sound (like the menahan street band) but i dont know from a producer standpoint, he stands alone.

The Dead Poet 01-25-2016 08:23 PM

I don't think it's any where near as good as the first something about april or the venice dawn album. But it's good.

I too wouldn't even attempt to chop up anything of his. I'm sure the lazy diggers will come in droves and droves to do that shit though.

Certain 01-25-2016 08:56 PM

I've only listened twice to it, but I really dug a few of the lighter tracks that set it apart. "April Sonata" is amazing. It has less hip hop influence than the first Something About April.

uh-oh 01-27-2016 10:28 PM

I got the records today. Fucking dope.

The problem is recording them this fucking mpc is killing me. As theyre recording them im monitoring them and it sounds crystal clear warm and beautiful. When i play what i recorded though it sounds terrible and skips. Might be asio drivers. Might be my pc? Might be because i spilled a beer on it? Who knows

Its just weird im listening to it record perfect but that actual wave file/digital audio is fucked

Maybe i need to bypass the mpc, my turntable is regular tho not usb. Just red and white rcas. Maybe if i get rca to 1/4 i can record into my interface. Nothings ever easy

The Dead Poet 01-28-2016 08:39 PM

might be the rca's themselves. I'd for sure go through the interface though either way. When I pull from vinyl it's always through the mbox into protools. Maybe try soundforge just to see if it is the connection to the mp that's fucked (doubt it if they're playing clearly).

uh-oh 01-28-2016 08:56 PM

Yea i got it working through sound forge. Its the mpc software im thinking. The only rca ins i have are on the mpc, but using the mpcs soundcard i was able to record direct into aound forge with no problems. Recorded a bunch of shit today. Gonna go through and record the rest tomorrow, and then go in Saturday. Copped like 9 more too ill get next thursday.

I also got some beyer dynamic dt990s or some shit headphones. So crisp and clear its ridiculous. The wire on my mpc headphones died and they were shit anyways so instead of just buying a new cord had to grab some new headphones since i do most of my work in them.

Now im back to being poor tho. Yearly bonus gone. Feds paid off. Records and headphones lol.

uh-oh 01-28-2016 09:13 PM

i should probably pay attention to hip hop lol. just realized this shit was used by drake

http://www.mediafire.com/listen/v8f2...ng+In+Love.mp3

theres some other heat on this record tho and the dude who flipped that for drake did alot with it that i'm not going to. ima still get at it.

also disappointed to see it has a million and a half views on youtube lmao, so it aint some obscure shit.

but this was a 5 dollar sealed record, that i thought would be the weakest of the bunch. them white dudes got down yo

The Dead Poet 01-29-2016 07:31 PM

^that link didn't work. what was it?

uh-oh 01-29-2016 07:50 PM

Hamilton joe frank and reynolds falling in love

Recording some french soundtrack shit now

Francois de roubaix

Certain 01-29-2016 07:57 PM

Here's a sample suggestion. Right around the 2 minute mark, in particular.

Patiently waiting bruh..

The Dead Poet 01-30-2016 07:51 PM

beginning should be super obvious to you all. As for 2 min mark...I tend to chop any and everything into billion's of pieces....but with something like that you are going to have to pitch it down (it's too fast) then you got his vocals in there (which I tend to like)....but also you have those drums...which is really going to make it pointless to cut it especially when you're going to pitch it down. My 2 cents.

Edit - It's also curtis mayfield. If you're going to dig for samples dig deeper. His whole catalog has been done.

I don't dig for samples. I don't produce beats. I was listening to Curtis Mayfield. The spot around 2 minutes caught my ear, and I thought it'd work well. Now that you point it out, yes, Ma$e used the beginning. Pay me more if you want deeper cuts.
