I've seen the movie, trust me, it ain't even a big deal in the movie. It makes perfect sense why they are brother & sister and diff races. To me, the legit issues came after the origin story, then they fucked up big time.

The movie isn't as bad a people make it out to be, it's got some positives but they still fucked up forreal.
