alchemist is a god damn fool. i hate his guts for his dope simplicity.
as i'm making a beat early today, im looking for samples and come across this dopeness. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mPjfnjTcb74 im listening like yea this piano is nice. ok got some deep strings coming in, im choppin in my head like word i got places for variation, piano behind the strings is consistent i can layer and drop back, then oh shit the higher strings drop in around :38-:39 seconds. i'm instantly reminded of a beat in my head. it takes me a second to figure out even the beat its reminding me of. im like humming it in my head like oh yea, thats gotta be an alchemist beat. so since i have his discography i quickly scroll through it until i find it. the beat the strings reminded me of, was this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wL6aWzSWbJk so then i'm like thats not the same sample. its got strings and repetitive piano but its different. just reminded me of it. so through more googling i found the sample alc used (skip to 2:15) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5J3PXJv4vA boom. he killed that tho. made the strings do what he wanted. kept the piano simple. basically threw drums down, and the bassline is a single note. repeated keeping it moving. what does this have to do with anything? not a thing. just figured i'd post it in here instead of making a useless thread. so if you guys see me hating on newer alchemist when he refuses to use drums sometimes and shit, just know its cuz i know his catalog, he's a monster, and when you hear a beat he produces with no drums, just know with a simple bass stab and the most generic drum pattern he could make it alot better. end rant #shouldbeineveryonestop3 |
