Unless roku has free services? I'm under the assumption it's just a Netflix and Hulu streaming device

Therefore pirating on a laptop would give the most satisfaction

You'd pay less for paid streaming services than you would for cable, and you'd forgo the hassle of trying to track down torrents and the whole torrenting process

Not to mention some ISPs will throttle your web service if they suspect torrenting

All I'm saying is that trying to save money on luxuries for your leisure time is like counting calories only during cookie dough binges

pretty sure it was a HDMI cable i had

someone online said you have to go into laptops settings>sound> change it so the output comes from the TV/HDMI?

i hadnt done that, admittedly, might be why the sound was coming from the laptop rather than the TV

if it still doesnt fix it, i'll take pics of what i got and post 'em

I still have Netflix and Hulu of my own lmfao

There are so many dope shows and movies not on there, you can't live off of peasant scraps for entertainment all the time meng

well listen I have Netflix and I have hulu and I have my other sites that stream any show I want and I know how to use torrents and I have a laptop with a working screen

I just want to get rid of my box tv and my cable and get a flatscreen and like dawg said I don't want to be up next to my flatscreen with my laptop everytime I want to watch something new

and I see chromecast is only 35$ compared to roku 2 at 60 or 3 at 90 if they're virtually the same thing then I might chromecast it

I might check out sears/jcpenny for a discontinued tv as long as that shit looks pretty SOLID

you don't have to ever get near the comp

my old laptop screen got fucked so i bought a new one

use the old one for the TV. keep it hidden behind the tv stand and use a wireless mouse and it has an on screen keyboard which you can use as easily/more easily than a remote

but the chromecast looks dope for that stuff

not 100% you can go on streaming sites. I know you can surf the net but not sure what capabilities it has for flash/java/etc

~RustyGunZ~ 03-05-2015 11:28 AM

also it's 2015

all tv's are nice tbc

even the shit ones

i stay with samsung because i use them for phone/computer/tablet and the screen mirroring and shit are dope

but otherwise yeah a vizio is all samsung parts as are seiki and all the other off brands

veritas 03-05-2015 11:33 AM

XBMC. hook up computer or phone with it to your tv. Enjoy.

I have a Roku 2, it's pretty nice. I'd recommend picking up a smart TV if you can find one in your budget. I haven't looked into chrome cast at all. laptop is okay but cooling can be an issue and it's a PITB/ eyesore
