Your site's got u gassed, you're not a main eventer and u aren't the best
Uve got a lisp, can't call yourself battle rap's savior if u can't say words that start with a S

Really? So "you have a lisp so you cant say the letter S" is a 'solid' punchline now?

And even worse...

On Netcees you 41-12? No matter how you put a spin on it, fuck ya record player
When I hit him with thirty-eights it ain’t a class full of second graders

This is just a complete recycle of the joke "What's the best thing about having ex with twenty-three year olds? There's twenty of them". Jokes brilliant, but you can't just use the exact same shit from a well known joke and change the number to claim you came up with it. Hell the light punch in the first line is more original than the main punch in the second one.

I don't even know either guy, but the standards are really low if those are "dope". Knowing NC there will be some trolly response to this but that doesn't change the fact that there are year one rap battling bars.

i just voted on that battle. the lisp bar is a little straight forward so it's not really an amazing bar to me, but it's still pretty harsh as a personal, and that is probably what people are voting for more than the creativity.

the other bar was dope to me, but i haven't heard the joke you're referencing. if i had maybe i would feel differently, but as a fresh read it was nice to me.

i think everyone is entitled to their opinions, that's kinda what's challenging about texting in general. ive never dropped a bar i didn't think was nice in some way when i wrote it. but not everyone agrees, and some people have valid reasons why. you gotta kinda find a middle ground between what is dope to you and what is dope to everyone else.

it's the dynamic between calling himself savior (as in literally saying he's the thavior) and having a lisp. it's not overly clever, but relevant, well-worded, and funny tbh. and it's good and evoking a funny visual. so yes, that is a totally solid txt line tbh

Hi...

You guys do know that this is just for fun right?...
Its not that serious...
Niggas like what they like...
I was done when homie from the other site said that shot rhymes better with popped than stopped does...
da fuck?!...
Anyway, enjoy this shit...
This is the first time in years that a site battle has been successfully pulled off...
Respect to everyone who dropped...

Bye...

EtH 09-14-2015 10:52 PM

I imagine in a live battle that saviour line would have pulled off the host saying "Oh, alright" and that's about it. "You have a list so you can't call yourself a saviour"....k

Actually scratch everything cause kar's right. I've never seen a site battle work to this degree in the 8 years I've been on these sites. LB and FG had an abysmal one somewhere years ago but this things run like clockwork so fair fucks to everyone and Baron for getting this shit done.

As I said I didn't even read the battles I just randomly stumbled on two lines, one being what I'd consider to be a weak enough statement and the other being fro a joke I've heard loads of times (and to be fair is still funny). That battle and the rest of them could be awesome for all I know.

I think it's that we've been pretty fair about battles on RMBVA and don't feel the same way here, and, since we're all competitive people, it's frustrating. The "NOT A DISS" criticisms get a little old, too, when it's a verse...framing yourself in it and dissing your opponent should be important.

Anyways, I'm not going to bother doing write ups (at least not for the next few days), but I'll vote on the polls on RMBVA. There are a lot of solid writers here and I was definitely impressed. But thinking everyone here won every battle...I dunno. That's what I was worried was going to happen, and it's a bit grating as if people here aren't really interested in getting our scene. It's not a big deal, though, and I think the event was definitely far more successful than the one we had with RapBattles.com.

I think people are getting emotional & that's just gay

I couldn't give a fuck about a text battle at the end of the day lol

It's hard to buy the 'I don't care who wins' thing when 99% of votes from the site have gone to your side. Makes it seems like you care alot tbh. I guess that's to be expected. You're right though, event definitely 100x better than rmbva vs rb in both writing quality and organization so props for that. Now if only my opponent would drop a verse... :/

Nah it's just style preferences homie...
like KOTD niggas tryna do their usual verses at URL, shit just don't play the same

I used to call RM home... but that's trash now...
didn't know anything about RMBVA til this cross-site joint opened my eyes to it
& if it wasn't so hard to stay logged in over there on TOR I'd prolly be more active already

Saint 09-15-2015 02:46 AM

I'm tired of this shit

I don't think the 99% thing is accurate. People are breaking down the verses here & over there. I would say the assessments are fair. Personally, I think hinging a battle win based on setup multi choice is retarded, but its what alot of yall do - so I can see where you're coming from. The fact you think certain battles were blowouts on your side says more a/b your ignorance and lack of appreciating a style other than your own. I can't recall anyone on NCs saying that.... its fucking annoying that you and a few others keep running your mouth on this issue. If somebody has heat, we letting them know.

This is the exact reason why actually explaining your votes is important. I feel the exact opposite about the voting on RMBVA. I don't see how you think a poll is less biased than explained bar by bar breakdowns. I don't think it was a site sweep, but the polls on your site definitely seemed a lil biased towards the home team. And I have a harder time trusting those votes, because they are unexplained.

We're not gonna understand whats dope to you guys if you don't explain your shit. I can legit tell you why whoever I thought lost was worse. With examples and reasoning behind it. If you can justify why the other person had a better verse, people can take your explanation into account when they vote on that battle or the next one. It also helps people elevate so they know where they fucked up in their verse or what things people liked.

Hi...

I really liked Jshazo's and chef's verses...
The only battles I've read are the ones I voted on over there but I skimmed through some and I definitely saw a line or two that I liked...
The dopest lines were the personals because I can always appreciate a nigga who does his research...
like Og smoke-whatever's opener was dope to me...
I like some of u guys verses because they're simple...
When I started writing, I was writing that way too...
But text evolved tho...
We went from grunting to talking...
You guys were complaining about my lines being done on your site before but some of your concepts have been done on every site...
I know you're not impressed with my shit but I'm not impressed with dudes who look like Slim Jesus claiming that they eat off the streets and shoot shit up...

Bye...

fraze 09-15-2015 08:39 AM

getting into the style differences, we don't really give a shit about multis over here. yeah they're better, and if you do one word rhymes you will catch shade, but on NC the most important part of the bar is the punch. if the punch is wack the bar is wack, pretty much period. if you don't have multies, its just not as tight as the bar could have been.

also the hood shit gun bars stuff. most of the dudes here who spit gun bars heavy are actual street dudes. the people who are not tend to stick to their lane b/c they will get called out for it. sure you'll see gun bars sprinkled in from time to time, but the only people who really focus on that style and are successful are Cred and murda sho (neighbor, hush, and orc can be gunbar heavy but they are all generally pretty diverse and do other stuff too).

finally wording. i don't think this makes sense to a lot of people, as NC is one of the first places where i heard people talking about it heavy. but next to the punch and the creativity of the concept, the most important thing is to have your bar worded right. that means directing it at your opponent in a harsh way that flows smoothly. there are bars that are automatically garbage to me regardless of how fresh the idea is if they're worded bad enough. and this is probably the biggest problem to me with some of you guys verses. fresh concepts, but rushed wording that makes the bar fall flat.

i get it if you guys think you won more than the votes say on here, but in general i haven't seen much bias. and when a vote is biased you can tell pretty easily from how they explain the verses. you might be able to sneak something in a close battle, but if its a close battle, it basically comes down to personal opinion anyway.

Destroyer 09-15-2015 09:12 AM

it seems to me that NC is voting pretty fair
we know who won, and we vote as such
most of the battles were won by us, but some weren't, and they are being voted on as such
what's the problem?

Amen. 09-15-2015 09:20 AM

Lol

A true live battle verse would consist of;

Rhyme schemes, self hype mixed in w/ some punches.

- See that works in a live battle because you have an audience, so hyping yourself up w/ a few bars is nothing.

In text, it should be straight punchlines. Punch for punch because that how text should be judged aswhere live battles, the judges look for;

punches
rhyme schemes
presence
delivery

kind of like audio

idk man, this is basically turning out just like the RB vs RMBVA site war... Bunch of niggas crying
