Who makes the best Oktoberfest beer?

My fave so far is by Brooklyn Brewery

And also Haufbrua from Munich. Give me some recommendations. Also some good pumpkin beers. Sup

dead man 09-23-2014 07:52 PM

@Mike Wrecka i dunno if oktoberfest is something separate altogether but pumpking is a pretty good seasonal beer.

its southern tier brewing. check it out if its available where you're at

Ya I have heard a lot about pumking. I've drank a few of Southern Tiers other offerings. They are a solid brewery. I'll def try out Pumking and report back

I actually just had Sam Adams Oktoberfest tonight for the first time. Wasn't thrilled with it tbh.

And ya a trip to Germany is a beer lovers dream. Cheers

8 schlitz's deep

feeling okay about it

Certain 09-23-2014 09:53 PM

I'm a very big fan of Schlafly's pumpkin ale.

YDK 09-23-2014 10:30 PM

8% ABV. Nice. Very good reviews on Untappd. They have this on tap like a mile away from me. Will def try it

Frank 09-24-2014 08:48 PM

YO Props @ Certain for winning it all.

Finally got my internet computer up and running after being without one all last season.

I'm officially off of summer vacation.

Lets see what I got left in the tank.

Update the record to 34 and 7.

Rly? I guess idk what to look for in an Oktoberfest beer. I've had Sam Adams Oktoberfest, Harpoon Oktoberfest, and maybe one or two other varieties that I wasn't thrilled with

Sam Adams was better than the Harpoon IIRC, which was surprising cause I like straight up Harpoon better than SA

Suggestions? Not too many craft beer places in Lowell unfortunately

well everyone has different tastes. for instance I dislike IPAs, even though they are most peoples go to beer these days. I do however really enjoy American Pale Ales and American Pale Wheat Ales.

Im still kind of new to the whole micro brewery scene but in my somewhat limited by constantly growing experience these are my fave Oktoberfest beers that I have tried

Hofbrau Oktoberfest - not a craft beer. from an extremely large and well established brewing company in Germany. but its delicious

and like I said earlier, Brooklyn Brewery's Oktoberfest was great imo. I instantly wanted more. I make my own mix and match six packs at the local beer distributor. which is good cause I get to try a lot of different beers.

Ive tried 31 different craft beers in the last 35 days. good times

Split 09-25-2014 12:08 AM

Haha I went to the Haufbrauhaus in München, I had about four liter sized beers and a pork shoulder for free.

Will look around for those, thanks

Certain 09-25-2014 12:10 AM

@Diode might like Oktoberfests.

I'm drinking New Holland's Ichabod Pumpkin Ale right now. The best way I can describe it is the pumpkin ale for people who like pumpkin lattes way more than beer.

Diode 09-25-2014 01:44 AM

If it isn't a marzen or dopplebock it doesn't deserve an oktoberfest label.

Rabble rabble.
