I tried voting tonight. But these White Russians had me thinking each and every one of you were poet laureates. Srs.

I miss White Russians. I used to make them in my basement apartment in Des Moines, using half-and-half instead of milk or regular cream because I was indecisive. I'd make them with three or four shots of vodka and have three in a night and stumble around my basement apartment in Des Moines. I lived there only for three months back in 2010, one of the coldest winters on record there. The basement was cold, but the creamy, strong beverages and doubled-up comforters kept me warm as I adapted to life in a new place.

I left Des Moines in 2011, 13 months after I moved out of that basement apartment, to return to the East Coast. I haven't had a White Russian since.

They were a Christmas Eve/Thanksgiving night tradition between me and my brother. They remind me of staying up too late playing CoD like a lame. I miss it.

It was really great, even compared to the 10-year version. The 12-year version is weaker and smoother and very different but on roughly the same level, though. The mouthfeel is prickly but flavorful, and the swallow is smooth. Talking about bourbon requires a pause.
