@Vulgar - I feel you on not wanted to have restrictions, but I think we need to have some sort of guideline that makes it easier to compare pieces. It's not really fair to compare pieces with dramatically different line lengths, and we already have a topical league for longer format drops.

Maybe we could try an opt-out line limit? If both writers agree, the restriction can be dropped, but it would be enforced by default. Line limits are a restriction but I think they would promote more creativity and selective word choice to be effective in fewer lines. I think this would also help with vote quality / consistency because it is easier to give detailed feed on shorter pieces.

Nice idea. @Innovator

The 'both writers agree' clause can extend to pretty much anything. Negotiate your own restrictions and conditions on battles! I like it. General rules will remain the same though, but creating exceptions on an individual basis is legit.

Yeah I guess that can work. Agree on a line limit at check in. That's basically what they do in the NBL.

I still think it would be nice to have a recommended length (even if its a range) but this is a step in the right direction at least.

Inno 07-13-2015 03:57 PM

Line limit agreement before on check in sounds good to me

You're my boy. Show these faggots why WP were so reknowned. I'm like 15 years deep at this text shit and still write with that hunger like it's my first title shot...

I'm nothing if not consistent as fuck

Inno 07-13-2015 06:57 PM

@Vulgar topic sent.

let me know if you need me to post it.

shits gonna be dope.

Witty 07-13-2015 07:36 PM

*expect.

Vulgar 07-13-2015 09:18 PM

Battles are up. Let me and Inno know what you think, peoples.

I think I'll start the contender's match/champ match at Week 5. This allows for records to grow a bit more. A championship adds more motivation to excel at this medium :) although I hope it will not be its undoing.

Inno 07-13-2015 09:33 PM

I say you give everyone a copy of what dreams may come.

Keeps its poetic

Zen 07-13-2015 10:09 PM

I see your points clearly and somewhat agree with some of them but I'm not sure if I agree with you all the way through though. A 8 line perfect poem is better than a 64 line poem that got 48 perfect lines. Not to mention that hard work should be praised as well. A half assed 64 line poem takes more dedication than a half assed 8 line poem, it boils down to work and dedication in the end no matter how many lines you write. Quantity vs. quality and all that jazz. Not to mention that long pieces can get tiresome to read and bore readers making the complete feel of said poem lose points if the theme is dragged out and tired, feel me?

I agree with the no limit thing we got going (unless other rules are specified for that week) based on the points above but it's ultimately Inno and Vulgar's decision. Just dropping my 2 cents.

I apologize for the lack of votes from me this week as well. I tried to see if I could get some time for it by voting on the phone and when I went by my home to get some stuff but it proved to be difficult. :/

ribbit 07-14-2015 06:52 AM

Uhh where's my battle for this week??

Destroyer 07-14-2015 09:37 AM

@Hush

don't look at it as being stuck inside of a box
look at it like you are standing on a beach with a million beautiful shells as far as the eye can see
but you can only fit like 5 in the box you are holding
which 5 do you pick?

that's a haiku

Hush 07-14-2015 09:49 AM

lmao are u flirting with me nigga?

Destroyer 07-14-2015 09:49 AM

lmfao
uhhhh... always...
