arguments about whether or not the HOF should mean something to someone are silly.

if you write just to make a HOF, that is silly too.. but if you take the time to write, and share your work on a board, you might as well write good enough to make that site's HOF -- and if you write good enough to do so, you might as well be acknowledged for it... and if you're not, you might as well highlight it.



when people say someone has an "ego", often times they're really just trying to protect their own.

I agree with some of that, but just because there's a HOF, I don't think you 'might as well' write good enough, to get in? Why is there such an affinity for wanting to be recognized or winning here; not everybody seeks that, you need to understand this. Especially if you're treading around a subject as subjective as writing. OR objective, for that matter, in some cases, if it were for all, then there wouldnt be debate as to who gets in, lol.

And often times is a bit of a exaggerated term. I write for myself, whether me or my counterparts post something with a silly title, or use 'multis all over the place' or write silly braggadocio pieces, it's just that. I've churned out things I would never post on here, just because this is one of the many forums in which I post material. When I was a very young writer and I'd read pieces from writers I thought were just way beyond me, I wish they would post more. I suppose I'm helping someone, out somewhere. (And I'm not taking the 'good ol Samaritan route' either.) There's no ego being protected here, and it's absolutely asinine if you can't see that half of this board doesn't have a over extenuating ego. There was a thread about alpha males, and everybody clamoring over what is and what isn't deemed alpha male-ish for crying out loud.

I do respect that you guys want to get better, and want to recognized for what you do, as is Black. That's respectable. I just think HOF on a site that is based around disses and glorified yo mama jokes is what you would want to get recognized when you're writing as differently as black (my initial point was actually defending him, not on the offensive) Again, I like many battlers here, I think they're cute and are capable of writing in different areas - ones that even stretch as far as- dare I say -NOT RHYMING. (in the least patronizing way possible), Hush, Outlaw, Aero, Orc, I like these guys. I'm obviously posting here for a reason. But because I think HOF is lame doesn't mean I think it's useless. Condoms are lame, but they're not useless.

oh yea dude, i totally think there's a bunch of over-inflated egos - there always has been though. for the most part these boards were built on 'competitive writing' - so it's not surprising... but yea, lots of over-inflated ones for sure -- and way worse than back in the day actually just due to the nature of 'boarding' culture in recent years...

on the 'why do people care about it' tip... shit, i think humanity is warped as fuck in this rewards-based world --- i just don't care what the incentive is. i just dont want potential HOFers having to ask themselves to be nominated anymore -- important or not, deserving or not - it's not a good look.

When you use that weird, illiterate typing style, I cringe at people thinking we're one. It's okay, though. I still love you.

I battled lots. I won lots. Battling and OM writing both have their own tricks that make churning out entertaining material routine. Battling is limiting because you're held to a voters standard. Assuming you're battling to win, you have to crop your style into a format. OM writing is limitless in tone, style, subject matter etc. Battling has always been an exercise to keep sharp so that my other writing was better. OM writing means more outside of Netcees, which is why I personally hold it in higher regard.

And yeah, Black is obviously good enough to be in whatever trophy room there is here.

Im going to one shot my opinion on black making it to the hof.

The fact that hes no showed so many times and has only gotten into the playoffs based on the fact that the rest of the "qualified" (via record) participants opted out due to time or lethargy or whatever. With all that in mind I dont think someone who doesn't effectively participate in the site or the league deserve it. Most of the OMs hes posted thatve gotten him om hof have been written for other leagues effectively making them feel like slaps to the face for the integrity of the hof.

Overall just because black is a great writer whos well respected doesnt meet the requirements of actually making the hof.

Just my 2 cents

I think they think our game has gotten stale. It's mostly your thing, but I like to play along, sometimes. It does feel limiting, and I think it was cooler when it flew more under the radar as an assumption, type of deal. Now that we're one, all of our opinions come across as one, or as pretending to be different to keep up the mystery (which is gay).
